(HOUSTON) — Rangers starting pitcher Alexi Ogando struck out a career-high 10 batters in 6 1-3 innings of work as Texas lassoed the Houston Astros Wednesday, 4-0. Ogando’s performance came less than 24 hours after Yu Darvish came within one out of a perfect game against the ‘Stros.
Ogando, along with relievers Robbie Ross, Tanner Scheppers, Michael Kirkman and Joe Nathan, allowed just five hits and one walk while striking out 15. Houston has struck out 43 times in their first three games.
Nelson Cruz, A.J. Pierzynski and Lance Berkman each drove in a run for the Rangers, who ended the series taking two of three.
