Red Sox Take Care of Yankees on Opening Day, 8-2

Red Sox starter Jon Lester went five innings, allowing two earned runs while striking out seven against a Yankee lineup that was missing Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, Curtis Granderson and Mark Teixeira because of injuries.

Outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr., making his big league debut with the BoSox, walked three times and scored twice while outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury had two RBIs.

Starting pitcher C.C. Sabathia took the loss for the Bronx Bombers, allowing four earned runs in five innings of work.
