Last night against the New York Mets, Halladay surrendered seven runs in four innings. In his first start of the season against the Atlanta Braves, Halladay gave up five earned runs in three and a third innings pitched. So far this year, Halladay has a 14.73 ERA, over 11 runs higher than his career ERA.

Halladay declared that despite his struggles, he’s healthy. He also added that 95 percent of his issues are merely mental. Halladay admitted that he’s pressing on the mound.

“That’s the hardest thing to force,” Halladay said when asked about his command. “When you try to force a ball to a spot instead of just letting it go there. …The more you force it the more it goes away from there. You need to be tension-free instead of forcing your will on what you want to happen.”

Halladay’s next start will come this Sunday against the Miami Marlins.
