Astros shortstop Marwin Gonzalez broke up Rangers starting pitcher Yu Darvish’s perfect game bid with two outs in the bottom of the ninth.

The Cleveland Indians (1-0) tamed the Toronto Blue Jays (0-1), 4-1.

The Baltimore Orioles (1-0) stung the Tampa Bay Rays (0-1), 7-4.

The Seattle Mariners (2-0) smacked the Oakland Athletics (0-2), 7-1.

The Colorado Rockies (1-1) bounced the Milwaukee Brewers (1-1), 8-4.

The St. Louis Cardinals (1-1) dumped the Arizona Diamondbacks (1-1), 6-1.

The San Francisco Giants (1-1) blanked the Los Angeles Dodgers (1-1), 3-0.

NBA: The New York Knicks (47-26) cooled off the Miami Heat (58-16), 102-90. Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony scored 50 points.

The Washington Wizards (28-46) vanquished the Chicago Bulls (40-35), 90-86.

The Los Angeles Lakers (39-36) trumped the Dallas Mavericks (36-38), 101-81.

NHL: The Buffalo Sabres (14-17-6; 34pts) iced the Pittsburgh Penguins (28-9-0; 56pts), 4-1 to snap the Pens 15-game winning streak.
