The move is retroactive to April 2.

The Indians announced that Trevor Bauer will be called up from Triple-A  to make Kazmir’s start Saturday versus Tampa Bay.

Kazmir felt pain after playing catch on flat ground Monday. He had tests in Cleveland Wednesday that revealed the injury. Kazmir is expected to miss two or three starts.

The 29-year-old Kazmir, once considered one of the best pitching prospects in the game, hasn’t pitched in the major leagues since 2011.

Kazmir, a two-time All-Star, went 13-9 in 2007 for Tampa Bay, posting a 3.48 ERA while striking out 239 batters in 206.2 innings pitched.
