Stocks Slide on Weak Jobs Report

Hemera/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — A disappointing jobs report sent the markets tumbling to end the week.
The Dow Jones Industrial report closed down 40.86 points to close Friday’s session at 14,565.25. The Nasdaq Composite gave up 21.12 points to close at 3,203.86. The S&P fell 6.70 points to 1,553.28.
The markets rallied back from session lows in afternoon trading. The Dow had been down more than 170 points earlier Friday.
The Labor Department says employers added just 88,000 jobs in March, far outside of expectations. Unemployment fell to 7.6 percent, mainly because more people stopped looking for work.
