Randolph C. Maidens, 42, of Brentwood, Tenn., appeared before a Williamson County magistrate judge Monday and was charged with homicide in the death of his wife, Rachael Maidens, according to Sharon Puckett, a spokeswoman for the Williamson County Sheriff’s Department.

Rachael Maidens, a Brentwood orthodontist, was found dead in the couple’s home inside the gated Governors Club golf community after police responded to a “welfare check” at 5:49 p.m. on Sunday. Puckett said it was not clear who called 911 to ask police to check on the Maidens.

The couple’s 2-year-old daughter, Natalie, was also found inside the house but was unharmed. Brentwood Police Capt. Thomas Walsh told ABC News the child was with relatives.

Brentwood police, assisted by a SWAT Team, a K-9 unit, the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office and helicopters, led an overnight manhunt for Randolph Maidens, who was not inside the house when police arrived.

Police placed the gated Governors Club golf community on a lockdown for a few hours as they searched the area for Maidens.

After eluding police for several houses, Maidens walked out of the woods behind the back of his house and was taken into custody without incident at 6 a.m. Monday.

Brentwood police officials declined to comment on several details pertaining to the case, including what weapon was used or a possible motive, saying it was an “ongoing investigation.”

“I saw him about three weeks ago running through the woods behind our house, and he had on a black ski mask and a backpack that looked like a quiver,” a neighbor told ABC’s Nashville affiliate WKRN-TV about Randolph Maidens. “And it was daytime and he was running through the woods about 15 feet behind our property line and he had two Labradors with him….And he went through the woods and down to the ravine, right past our house, and I followed him and he laid down in the ravine and pulled off the ski mask.”

“He finally came up at a point where the fence at the Governor’s Club comes up Governor’s Way, and I said, ‘What are you doing?’ and he made some kind of statement that made no sense, and I said, ‘What are you doing?’ and he said, ‘Well, I was walking my dogs, I got lost.'”

Maidens is currently being held in Williamson County Jail on a $2.5 million bond. His next court appearance is set for May 2 at 1 p.m. in Williamson County General Sessions Court.

Brentwood Police had previously arrested Maidens on Feb. 23 for driving under the influence and refusing to take a Breathalyzer test.

He was released on $1,500 cash bond and is due back in court on May 29 at 9 a.m. for sentencing on that charge, according to the Williamson County Clerk’s Office.
