(WASHINGTON) — President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama will travel to Waco, Texas, Thursday afternoon to attend a memorial service for the victims of last week’s massive fertilizer plant explosion in West, Texas.
White House press secretary Jay Carney made the announcement on Monday.
The Obamas will attend a ceremony at Baylor University after spending the morning at the dedication of the George W. Bush presidential library in Dallas.
Fourteen people, including firefighters and emergency medical workers, were killed and about 200 more injured in the explosion last week.
