Top US General in Djibouti Fired for Alcohol, Sexual Misconduct

Lonely Planet/Getty Images(WASHINGTON) — A senior Army commander, who heads a base responsible for humanitarian and training missions across Africa, has been relieved of his command and faces alcohol and sexual misconduct charges, according to a Defense official.
Major General Ralph Baker, a senior commander on the Horn of Africa since last May, is accused of harassment and inappropriate contact. The charges were filed by a female civilian employee of the Defense Department, stationed in Djibouti.
Baker was fired last week by U.S. Africa Command head, Gen. Carter Ham, following an administrative review hearing known as an Article 15.
Now back in the U.S., Baker is serving at the Pentagon as a special assistant to the vice chief of the Army, while he appeals his termination to Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel.
