(NEW YORK) — Warner Bros. has been keeping a tight leash on new information about its upcoming Superman movie Man of Steel, however, the studio has lifted the static somewhat on an image on the movie’s website, revealing an audio transmission from the film’s villain.
While the sender can’t be seen through the interference, the voice is that of Boardwalk Empire’s Michael Shannon, who plays baddie General Zod, a ruthless figure from Superman’s home planet of Krypton. In the snippet, Zod asks the people of Earth to bring to him Kal-El — as the superhero was known on their doomed home planet — or this planet will suffer disastrous consequences.
Directed by 300 and Watchmen filmmaker Zack Snyder, Man of Steel stars Henry Cavill as the titular hero, as well as Amy Adams, Russell Crowe, Kevin Costner, Laurence Fishburne, and Law & Order: SVU vet Christopher Meloni.
The studio has also launched another viral site, called IWillFindHim.com, which will likely feature new information on the film, which opens June 14.
