(NEW YORK) — Kansas State point guard Angel Rodriguez has transferred to the University of Miami.
The 5-foot-11 point guard, averaged 11.4 points and 5.2 assists last season, Rodriguez’s sophomore, with the Wildcats.
“Angel is an exceptional point guard,” Miami head coach Jim Larranaga told The Miami Herald. “When you watch him you immediately notice his ball-handling and passing skills. He can also hit the open shot…He has a pass-first mentality, but if he sees an open lane, he won’t hesitate to attack. We feel very, very good about Angel joining our program.”
Rodriguez went to high school in Miami and a reason for the move is to be closer to his family in Puerto Rico. The Miami Herald reports Rodriguez will receive a hardship waiver from the NCAA so he doesn’t have to sit out a season.
