The 26-year-old Reddick suffered the wrist injury during a game against Houston on April 7, when he ran into a wall in foul territory while attempting to catch a fly ball.

In 29 games this season, the Gold Glove Award winner is batting .152 with one home run and 14 RBIs.

Oakland acquired Reddick from the Boston Red Sox last year in exchange for closer Andrew Bailey and outfielder Ryan Sweeney.  He batted .242 with 32 home runs and 85 RBIs in his first full season with the A’s.

Oakland called up first baseman Daric Barton from Triple-A Sacramento and released left-handed pitcher Jordan Norberto to make room on the 40-man roster.
