With O’Flaherty likely facing season ending surgery, the Braves bullpen is suddenly in shambles. Lefty Johnny Venters recently underwent his second Tommy John Surgery of his career, and righty Jordan Walden is currently on the disabled list with right shoulder inflammation.

“It’s hard to lose two guys like we’ve lost,” Braves general manager Frank Wren said. “And we’ll wait and see exactly how long Eric is going to be out, but it’s not going to be a week or two, we know that.”

But the team has no choice but try and patch together their bullpen.

“We have to. We don’t have a choice,” Wren added. “We’ve seen teams lose their closer and lose their set-up guys in the past and be able to regroup and make it work and we’re going to have to do that.”

O’Flaherty was 3-0 with a 2.50 ERA in 19 appearances this season, and was second in the National League with 12 holds.
