Turkey’s Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc called Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s administration the “usual suspect” in the attacks. “We know that the people taking refuge in Hatay have become targets for the Syrian regime. We think of them as the usual suspects when it comes to planning such a horrific attack.”

The attack came just days before the Turkish Prime Minister is scheduled to visit President Obama at the White House.

The cross-border bombings would be an unprecedented development in the spread of Syria’s two-year civil war.

Syria will top the agenda when the Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan visits the White House on Thursday. The crisis also be a topic of conversation when British Prime Minister David Cameron arrives in Washington tomorrow. He meets President Obama on Monday.
