(POCATELLO, ID) – Firefighters in Pocatello rescued a stranded cat from the Portneuf River Tuesday. Officials say the black cat was stuck in the mud near West Wyeth Street. They say its likely that someone had thrown the cat into the river, something that happens with regularity every few weeks. The scared cat was taken to the Pocatello Animal Shelter, and caretakers are attempting to locate its owner. They urge pet owners living near the river to keep their animals inside when possible.
