(WASHINGTON, DC) – Idaho Senators Mike Crapo and Jim Risch are among 27 Senate Republicans who voted against a bill that would allow states to collect an Internet sales tax. The measure, which passed a vote on Monday, now moves to the GOP-controlled House, where it faces tough opposition. Both senators say the legislation as it stands would cripple small businesses, which have been especially hard hit since the 2008 financial crisis. The bill would require out-of-state retailers to pay sales taxes to the states where their shoppers live.
