According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, relatives of an elderly man who passed away last week in the Alafaya Palm subdivision came across suspicious chemicals in the late owner’s shed. One of them was labeled magnesium, when in its pure form, is highly combustible.

The family members called the cops and authorities informed 100 people to leave about 50 homes in the subdivision while they went through the shed.

Jeff Williamson, spokesperson for the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, explained that because of the number of dangerous chemicals found, investigators took their time disposing of them.

The incident also forced the lockdown of a number of local schools in the area with parents contacted to pick up their children.

Eventually, everyone was cleared to return to their homes. No injuries were reported.
