(ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.) — Curtis Granderson is having an unlucky season.
The 32-year-old New York Yankees outfielder has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a broken knuckle on his left pinkie finger. This comes just nine games after Granderson returned from a broken right forearm, which forced him to miss the first 38 games of the season.
Granderson was hurt during the Yankees’ win over the Tampa Bay Rays Friday night when he was hit by a Cesar Ramos pitch in the fifth inning.
No official timetable has been released on when Granderson will return, but Yankees skipper Joe Girardi said he wouldn’t be surprised if he Granderson missed at least four weeks.
Granderson has gone 7-for-28 this season, with one home run and a .323 on-base percentage.
Brennan Boesch has been recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to take Granderson’s roster spot.
