Idaho Soldier Killed in Afghanistan
Published at(MERIDIAN) – An Idaho soldier was one of five Americans killed in a roadside bomb blast in Afghanistan over the weekend. Twenty-two-year-old Army Spc. Thomas Murach of Meridian was serving as a member of the 1st Armored Division stationed in Fort Bliss, Texas. Murach, who was nicknamed “Spanky” by his family, died Saturday in Maiwand, a village in the Kandahar province of southern Afghanistan. Saturday’s attack brings the total number of American deaths in Afghanistan to 2,083 since the war began nearly 12 years ago.
