J-Lo Rushed to Safety After Shots Fired Near Music Video Set
(FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.) -- Jennifer Lopez was taping an interview for Entertainment Tonight on a Fort Lauderdale, Florida, beach Sunday when shots reportedly rang out and she was whisked to safety.
Reporter Rob Marciano, who was conducting the interview, tweeted the news immediately: “BREAKING: Gunshots fired on Fort Lauderdale Beach DURING my JLo interview. No kidding. Security scrambled her away.”
Lopez’s publicist tells ABC News that the singer had just completed a two-day production on a music video and was being interviewed by ET at the end of the day when gunshots were heard.
“The reported shots were on the same beach, but not close to the production location,” the singer’s publicist said.
Fort Lauderdale police, who responded to the scene, say Lopez was on the opposite end of the beach when the shots were fired.
“Fort Lauderdale police officers responded to a call of shots fired at the northernmost point of the Fort Lauderdale beach park parking lot,” Det. DeAnna Greenlaw says in a statement to ABC News. “Jennifer Lopez and her crew were filming in the southernmost end of this park.”
Greenlaw says police are still investigating the incident.
“Officers responded to the area in an attempt to investigate the incident; however, the individuals involved in the shooting fled prior to their arrival. At this time, there are no known witnesses, no reported injuries and no further information,” she says.
Rapper Pitbull and Lopez’s boyfriend, Casper Smart, were also present for the music video shoot for Lopez’s latest single, “Live It Up.” The video will premiere next week.
