(NEW YORK) — In the past, some have talked about how Miami Heat forward Lebron James could make a successful transition to the NFL if he wanted to as a wide receiver, tight end, or even defensive end. But former Washington Redskins quarterback Joe Theisman thinks James could actually play quarterback.
While Theisman doesn’t think James should retire from the NBA just yet, he thinks that when the time comes for him to call it a career in basketball, he should try to make it in the NFL.
“I would love to work him out and also serve as his agent,” Theisman told FoxSportsFlorida.com. “I’ll go wherever he wants this summer. He could play another four years in the NBA before seriously trying the NFL. … There are not a lot of 38- or 39-year old basketball players, but there are 38- and 39-year old quarterbacks, so there’s always time for him.”
James played football in high school, and was one of the best players in the state of Ohio. He played quarterback his freshman year, and then played wide receiver his sophomore and junior seasons. He wound up giving up football to focus on basketball.
The 28-year old James is currently in his tenth season in the NBA.
