Nationals Place Werth on 15-Day DL
Published at(WASHINGTON) — The Washington Nationals placed outfielder Jayson Werth on the 15 day disabled list Saturday with a strained right hamstring.
Werth, who hasn’t played in a game since May 2, had a setback Friday while trying to workout.
“Jayson saw the doctor, and after he got an MRI, it looks like he’s headed toward the disabled list with a very slight strain of his hamstring,” Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo said on Friday. “The three grades — this would be a Grade 1-ish type of strain. … He’d be able to come off [the disabled list] Saturday the 18th, and we’d anticipate him being able physically to come off the 18th.”
The Nationals have called up outfielder Eury Perez from Triple-A Syracuse to take Werth’s roster spot.
The 33-year-old Werth is hitting .260 with four home runs and 10 RBIs this season.
