Otter Praises Obama’s Move to Drop Case

(BOISE, ID) – Gov. Butch Otter is pleased with the Obama administration’s move to drop an appeal aimed at making slickspot peppergrass a threatened species. The desert plant grows along the Snake River plain, and officials with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service recently lost a bid to keep federal protections for the plant in place. Otter says he’d rather see a management plan that works closely with state agencies, which would also take into account the impact on farmers and ranchers
