Jackson, the only original judge remaining on the Fox reality show, tells E!, “Yo! Yo! Yo! To put all of the speculation to the rest, after 12 years of judging on American Idol I have decided it is time to leave after this season.”

He adds, “I am very proud of how we forever changed television and the music industry.  It’s been a life changing opportunity but I am looking forward to focusing on my company Dream Merchant 21 and other business ventures.”

Fox tells ABC News Radio that it has no comment on Jackson’s assertion that he’s leaving the show.  Rumors have been flying that Fox was planning to get rid of all four judges after this season, which wraps up next week.

According to E!, Jackson’s numerous business ventures include a book, film and TV development deals and lines of eyewear, watches and guitars.
