Red Wings Down Ducks 3-2, Advance to Second Round

Jeff Gross/Getty Images(ANAHEIM) -- Detroit Red Wings captain Henrik Zetterberg had a goal and an assist as he helped lead the Red Wings to a Game 7 victory over the Anaheim Ducks 3-2 Sunday night, sending the Wings into the second round of the playoffs.

Zetterberg started the scoring quick, netting a goal just 1:49 into the game.

The Ducks tied the game up later in the period on a Emerson Etem goal, but Wings winger Justin Abdelkader scored a short-handed goal just minutes later, giving Detriot the lead for good.

Valtteri Filppula had a goal and an assist in the win, and goalie Jimmy Howard made 31 saves.

The one-goal victory marks the fifth time this series a game was decided by a single goal.

The seventh-seeded Red Wings will now take on the top-seeded Chicago Blackhawks.

The Blackhawks won all four regular season matchups between the two teams.
