“Rolando let me know that he plans to retire from the NFL,” Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome said. “We have placed him on the Reserve/Retired list.”

McClain was originally chosen by the Oakland Raiders out of Alabama with the eighth overall pick in the 2010 NFL draft. In 41 games with the Silver and Black, he amassed 244 tackles with 6 ½ sacks and one interception.  During this offseason, McClain became a free agent and signed a one-year contract with the Ravens.

McClain has had trouble off the field. In April, he was arrested for the third time since 2011 and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
