(NEW YORK) — Here’s a look at the new movies opening nationwide Friday:
— The Great Gatsby: F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel is brought to life. Leonardo DiCaprio plays Jay Gatsby, an eccentric millionaire in the 1920s. He’s involved in a love triangle that also includes narrator Nick Carraway’s cousin, Daisy Buchanan, and her husband, Tom. Tobey Maguire stars as Carraway; Carey Mulligan is Daisy; and Joel Edgerton portrays Tom. The Great Gatsby, which is screening in 3D, was helmed by Moulin Rouge! director Baz Luhrmann. Rated PG-13. — Peeples: The Office actor Craig Robinson stars as Wade in this Meet the Parents-type comedy. He’s introduced to the family of his girlfriend, the Peeples, and he seeks their permission to marry her. Kerry Washington, David Alan Grier and S. Epatha Merkerson also star in Peeples, which was produced by Tyler Perry. Rated PG-13.
