(SALT LAKE CITY, UT) – Utah teenagers caught talking on their cell phones while driving will now be fined. A new law banning cell phone use for teens behind the wheel goes into effect today. The measure is aimed at keeping roadways safer while penalizing those whose erratic driving threatens other drivers. The fine will be $25, and will not go toward a driver’s permanent record. The bill does not apply to teen drivers calling their parents, or making calls during an emergency.
