Aaron Hernandez, Caught Up in Murder Probe, Loses Endorsement Deal
Published at | Updated at(NEW YORK) — Police on Friday issued a warrant for the arrest of New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez in connection to the murder of his friend Odin Lloyd. Now it seems the situation has worsened for Hernandez with the end of his endorsement deal with Muscle Milk makers, CytoSport.
“In light of the investigation involving Aaron Hernandez, CytoSport is terminating its endorsement contract with Mr. Hernandez, effective immediately,” the company said in a statement provided to ESPN.
Police were planning Friday to charge Hernandez with obstruction of justice in connection with the murder of Lloyd, who was found earlier this week near where Hernandez lives in southeastern Massachusetts. Authorities say Hernandez has not been cooperative throughout the investigation. He reportedly destroyed his home security equipment, hired house cleaners and smashed his cell phone.
Hernandez also endorses products for Puma, but the company has yet to announce any plans about the future of its relationship with the football player.
