Carimi was a first-round draft choice of the Bears in the 2011 draft.  He had not been participating in the Bears’ offseason program since the conclusion of the club’s voluntary minicamp in April, but did plan to attend next week’s mandatory minicamp.

After starting the first 10 games of the 2012 season at right guard, Carimi was replaced in the lineup by veteran Jonathan Scott.  He ended what would be his final season in Chicago by playing both guard and tackle.  Knee problems caused him to miss all but two games during his rookie season in 2011.

Carimi has two years left on a contract that guaranteed his base salary in the second and third years of the deal. The offensive lineman is scheduled to earn a guaranteed base salary of $1,016,458 in 2013.

He is expected to fly to Tampa on Monday to undergo a physical.
