(BLACKFOOT, ID) – It’s no secret that we’re in for a long, dry summer, and in Bingham County, steps are being taken to ensure that there’s enough irrigation water to go around. Last week, county commissioners declared a water disaster. Commissioner Ladd Carter says the move comes at the request of the Aberdeen-Springfield Canal Company. The declaration allows the company to decrease water delivery if necessary and put shareholders on a rotation. The company provides water for nearly 62,000 acres of farmland in Bingham and Power counties.
