Brian Shaw Hired as Nuggets Head Coach

Rick Havner for TSN(NEW YORK) -- Brian Shaw will finally get his chance to be an NBA head coach.

Shaw, who has been a head coaching candidate for the past couple of years, has been hired by the Denver Nuggets as their new head coach the Denver Post reported Monday.

Shaw takes over for George Karl, who was fired at the end of the season despite being named the NBA Coach of the Year.

Shaw spent the past two seasons as the associate head coach for the Indiana Pacers.  Prior to that he spent five seasons working as an assistant coach for Phil Jackson and the Los Angeles Lakers.

Shaw played 14-seasons in the NBA, and won three NBA championships with the Los Angeles Lakers.
