(PHILADELPHIA) — The Philadelphia Phillies activated second baseman Chase Utley from the 15-day disabled list Friday.
The 34-year-old Utley has been out since May with an oblique strain.
To make room for Utley, the Phillies optioned utility man Michael Martinez to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
Utley will play second base and hit second for the Phillies in their game versus the New York Mets Friday night.
This season, Utley is hitting .272 with seven home runs, 25 RBIs and five stolen bases this season.
