City Creek Mall Makes $266M in First Nine Months

(SALT LAKE CITY, UT) – A lavish shopping mall in downtown Salt Lake City boasted big profits for its first year in operation. City Creek Mall, which is owned by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, generated $200 million in sales from April through December of 2012, and $266 million during its first full year of operation. Officials say City Creek’s success is coming at the expense of another nearby mall. The Gateway say sales decline by 20 percent once City Creek opened.
