(COEUR D’ALENE, ID) – The city of Coeur d’Alene has become the fifth community in the state to adopt an LGBT anti-discrimination ordinance. The measure, which was modeled after legislation passed in Boise, Sandpoint, Moscow, and Ketchum, passed a city council vote by a 5-1 margin Tuesday night. Opponents say the law comes dangerously close to infringing on the rights of religious groups by forcing them to go against their consciences. The ordinance, however, does not apply to churches or to people renting rooms in their own home.
