(COEUR D’ALENE, ID) – The Coeur d’Alene School District is reconsidering the ways administrators and teachers should handle cases involving students who bring toy guns to school. Current policies allow little flexibility, with students as young as six being suspended for up to ten days for even having toy guns in their backpacks. Authorities say teachers need better guidelines to determine if the toy was brought with malicious intent. Under proposed policies, any student caught brandishing anything that appears to be a weapon will have to appear before the school board and face possible expulsion
