(NEW YORK) — The Denver Broncos have re-signed center Dan Koppen to a one-year contract Thursday after starter J.D. Walton underwent ankle surgery earlier this week.
Walton had surgery to repair the ankle and is expected to be out until at least October, according to the team’s website. Walton could wind up missing the entire 2013 season if he suffers any complications in his rehab from the surgery, which was done to replace hardware inserted into his ankle during a surgery to repair an injury he suffered last year.
The 33-year-old Koppen spent 10 years with the New England Patriots before joining the Broncos last season. He started 12 games for the Broncos after Walton went down.
