Dodgers Call Up Top Prospect Yasiel Puig
Published at(NEW YORK) — The Los Angeles Dodgers called up top prospect Yasiel Puig Sunday, after their game versus the Colorado Rockies.
The 22-year-old Puig, was called up due to the recent injuries suffered in the Dodgers’ outfield. Matt Kemp has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring and Carl Crawford missed the past two games with a hamstring problem as well.
The 6-foot-3, 235 pound Puig was hitting .313 with eight home runs, 37 RBIs, 13 stolen bases and a .383 on-base percentage in Double-A Chattanooga.
The Dodgers signed the Cuban defector to a seven-year, $42 million deal last summer.
Puig is expected to start in center field for the Dodgers Monday against the San Diego Padres.
