The 30-year-old remains holed up in an airport in Moscow since leaving Hong Kong last Sunday to flee extradition to the U.S., where he faces espionage charges.  And according to Russian news reports, he may be there a while longer.

The Interfax news agency quoted an unnamed source saying Snowden will not be able to leave Russia until he receives asylum from either Ecuador or Venezuela, or he gets a valid travel document.

Ecuador, meanwhile, says it can’t grant Snowden asylum until he sets foot on Ecuadorian soil.

The Interfax source said again that Russia has no plans to hand him over to the U.S.
