FAA to Ease Restrictions on Use of Gadgets in Flight?

iStockphoto/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — Sick of those airplane announcements telling you to turn off all electronic devices? Well, the skies may be about to get a little friendlier.
The Wall Street Journal reports the Federal Aviation Administration is about to relax restrictions on electronic devices while the plane’s taxiing — and maybe during take off and landing too. The changes could happen this fall.
Under the new rules, the newspaper says cellphone calls would still be banned.
Studies show most electronics don’t interfere with flights, and about a third of passengers ignore the rules anyway.
