(MCCALL, ID) – The Idaho Republican Party is asking state lawmakers to put a stop to new laws adding protections for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered people.  Officials passed a non-binding resolution at the GOP central committee’s summer meeting in McCall on Saturday. The measure pushes the Idaho Legislature to make local non-discrimination laws unenforceable if they go beyond protections explicitly defined by the Idaho Human Rights Act. That would virtually nullify existing ordinances in cities like Boise and Pocatello, where discrimination in matters of housing and employment is now largely prohibited.
