The Los Angeles Times reports the Oscar-winning actress, who has a 5-year-old daughter, Nahla, testified in front of the Assembly Public Safety Committee, “[Photographers] jump out of bushes, they jump out of cars, they come from behind buildings, who knows where they come from.”

She said the shutterbugs bring about “chaos” and “fear.”

Berry also recalled how paparazzi surrounded her, her daughter and her fiancé, Olivier Martinez, at Los Angeles International Airport in early April.  It was reported at the time that Martinez allegedly kicked one of the photographers in the leg and wrist.

The bill, which has been approved by the Assembly Public Safety Committee, would revise the definition of harassment to include taking pictures of or recording a child without the permission of the child’s legal guardian.

The bill will now be presented to the Assembly Judiciary Committee.
