Hinchcliffe held the lead for all but 24 of 250 laps to become the first three-time winner this season in the process. It was also Andretti Autosports fourth-straight victory at Iowa.

Ryan Hunter-Reay finished second in the race, followed by Tony Kanaan, Ed Carpenter, and Graham Rahal.

“I’ve watched guys win races like this on tv, and my whole career I thought ‘I just don’t get it. How do they do that?’ I’ve never been in that position,” Hinchcliffe said. “And now I know. You have to have a hell of a car. You have to have a hell of a good crew and just hit your marks all afternoon long. Man, it feels good to do it like that.”

Despite his dominance on Sunday, Hinchcliffe is still trailing in the standings. He is 66 points behind Helio Castroneves because of five finishes of 15th or lower.

Andretti Autosports has won five of the first 10 races so far this season.
