Justin Rose Wins U.S. Open
Published at(ARDMORE, Pa.) — Justin Rose took home his first major of his career on Sunday, holding off Phil Mickelson to win the U.S. Open by two shots.
Rose, 32, watched Lefty on his last hole from the Merion clubhouse and celebrated with his wife. The win ended a 43-year drought for England in the U.S. Open.
Rose shot a 70 on Sunday and finished 1-over 281 for the tournament.
Mickelson had a chance to force a playoff on the 18th hole, but missed a putt on the green to finish with a 74 and tied for second with Jason Day. This is now the sixth time Mickelson has finished second at Merion.
Jason Dufner, Ernie Els, Billy Horschel, and Hunter Mahan all finished tied for fourth.
Tiger Woods finished 13-over 293 and tied for 32nd.
