Last January, the website Stuff.co.nz reported that the pregnant Duchess of Cambridge underwent hypnotherapy to help her regain her appetite as she battled a very severe form of morning sickness called hyperemesis gravidarum.

The hypnotherapy was used to remove negative thoughts about food, according to family friend Jessica Hay, who said Middleton was then able to snack on avocados, broccoli, oatmeal and smoothies without getting sick.

With the first baby for Middleton and Prince William due sometime in July, there are reports that the duchess is considering hypno-birthing techniques, which supposedly remove the anxiety and fear of a long, painful labor.

A source told the UK’s Grazia magazine that Middleton has been researching hypno-birthing, which could involve her delivering in a birthing pool.

A source told the magazine, “Some of her friends have used this method and swear by it.  Kate wants to do it her way and be relaxed.”

Seeking confirmation of this report, a Royal Family spokeswoman said, “We appreciate it’s a happy occasion, but there are some matters which should remain private to the duchess.”
