(WASHAKIE, UT) – Two victims of one of the nation’s deadliest massacres have been laid to rest in Utah, 150 years after their deaths. Officials with the Smithsonian Institution recently turned over the remains of two Shoshone teenagers killed in the Bear River Massacre, which took the lives of more than 300 American Indians a few miles north of Preston. Darren Parry of the Northwestern Band of the Shoshone Nation says the bones were laid to rest near Brigham City in a traditional native ceremony.
