Mavericks’ Dirk Nowitzki Already Recruiting Dwight Howard

NBA via Dallas Mavericks(NEW YORK) — With NBA free agency on the horizon, Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki has his eyes set on Dwight Howard.
The Mavericks are expected to heavily pursue Howard once free agency begins in July. He is considered one of, if not the best center in the NBA when healthy.
Nowitzki has been with the Mavericks since he made his NBA debut back in 1998. He already has one ring with the team, and hopes Howard can help him win at least one more before retiring.
“I reached out to him and told him we’d love to have him,” Nowitzki told the Star Telegram. “It’s not like we call each other every day. I didn’t write him a letter. We just had a little phone contact. That’s about it…”
“He can dominate on both ends of the floor if he feels healthy,” Nowitzki added. “He can still use his athleticism. He’s a beast on both ends of the floor.”
Nowitzki has let it be known that after this year, he is willing to take less money in his next contract so the team can keep acquiring high-level talent.
Despite a down season for Howard last season with the Los Angeles Lakers, he still led the NBA in rebounding.
