(SEATTLE, WA) – A Washington man convicted to die for the brutal murder of a Pocatello girl is appealing his sentence.  Fifty-six-year-old Jonathan Gentry killed 12-year-old Cassie Holden in 1988 while the girl was visiting her mother in Bremerton, Washington. Gentry, who is African American, is appealing the case alleging that the senior prosecutor at the time of his trial in 1991 was a racist. The attorney is accused of asking Gentry’s defender if his ethics came “from Harlem.” Officials say the jury never heard the comment, and that it didn’t affect the trial.
