Nationals Place Stephen Strasburg on 15-Day Disabled List

Norm Hall/Getty Images(WASHINGTON) -- The Washington Nationals placed starting pitcher Stephen Strasburg on the 15-day disabled list on Wednesday, due to a strained right lat.

The 24-year-old Strasburg suffered the injury during last Friday’s game against the Atlanta Braves when he was removed after just two innings. He will be eligible to return to the diamond June 16.

In 12 starts this season, Strasburg is 3-5 with a 2.54 ERA. He has struck out 73 batters in 74 1-3 innings of work.

The Nationals have not announced who will be taking Strasburg’s start this Saturday against the Minnesota Twins.
