Nets Welcome Jason Kidd To Brooklyn
Published at(NEW YORK) — The Brooklyn Nets introduced Jason Kidd as their new head coach on Thursday, replacing interim coach P.J. Carlesimo. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Earlier this month, the 40-year-old Kidd announced his retirement after 19 seasons as a point guard in the NBA. He spent 6 1/2 seasons with the Nets when they played in New Jersey, averaging 14.6 points, 9.1 assists and 7.2 rebounds.
The 10-time NBA All-Star led the Nets to back-to-back appearances in the NBA Finals in 2002-03.
“When you talk about 19 years of playing the game that I loved,” Kidd said, “now having the opportunity to share my experiences and help a team from a different seat. This is a great challenge and so I am looking very forward to this.”
The Nets were bounced in the first round of this year’s playoffs by the Chicago Bulls.
